Comics and graphic novels (also known as sequential art) are powerful and popular media for storytelling. They fuel blockbuster media spin-offs that entertain millions worldwide, but can also tell intimate personal stories. The Avengers, Batman, and American Splendor are just a few of the properties that first appeared in these formats. But how does one get started writing comics and graphic novels?

In this unique online workshop format–using simple, free, video-conferencing–comics writer/editor Danny Fingeroth teaches you how to develop your story from initial idea to finished script. Story and character development are covered, as well as script creation. Other topics will include finding the right artist to draw your story and navigating the ever-changing state of the world of comics publishing.

This online version of Danny’s famous writing courses will provide you with instructions on the general and fine points of comics writing, as well as assigned reading of milestones of the medium, assignments to do during and between sessions, and interactive critiques and suggestions by Danny and your fellow students.

This online class is designed to be as simple as possible to register and participate in. If you’re reading this sentence, you have the computer skills necessary to join the class.
