|03/24/12 - 03/25/12||COMIC NEW YORK||New York, NY||Columbia University, Low Library, Faculty Room||United States|
|COMIC NEW YORK is a two-day event (March 24 & 25) I’m organizing with Columbia University graphic novel librarian Karen Green and Columbia professor Jeremy Dauber. It’s an amazing celebration of comics and the city so important to the medium’s past and present (not to mention future)! Comic New York is FREE and open to the public, with panels including CHRIS CLAREMONT, BILL GRIFFITH, JOHN ROMITA SR., JOHN ROMITA JR., LOUISE SIMONSON, ARIEL SCHRAG, R. SIKORYAK, AL JAFFEE, LAUREN WEINSTEIN, and many more comics giants. Details here:|
|01/28/12||COMICS OUT LOUD||New York, NY||Society of Illustrators||United States|
|Address: 128 East 63rd Street. I’ll be teaming up with New York’s venerable Society of Illustrators to present an event called COMICS OUT LOUD: COMICS OUT LOUD will feature top comic book creators—one from each discipline of the medium—demonstrating and discussing their work processes as attendees circulate around the room and watch the process of “sequential art” (as the great Will Eisner dubbed it) being made. You’ll get to watch writer LOUISE SIMONSON, penciler WALT SIMONSON, inker BOB WIACEK, colorist CHRIS SOTOMAYOR, and letterer JOHN WORKMAN as they ply their crafts. Each creator will be working on a current assignment, so that attendees will get a sense of how team-created comics come to be. COMICS OUT LOUD will be a rare opportunity to see top creators doing—and speaking about—their work. You will have the chance to find out everything you always wanted to know about making comics, but were afraid—or didn’t even know—to ask! For more info about COMICS OUT LOUD, click here.|

|Time: 5:15pm. I’ll be in SEATTLE for the MODERN LANGUAGE ASSOCIATION convention, where I’ll be on a panel about—of all things!—Spider-Man. That’s a convention for academic types, not a comic con. But it might be your cup of herbal tea: link|

|12/22/11||THE STAN LEE UNIVERSE signing||New York, NY||Midtown Comics’ Fulton Street Store||United States|
|Time: 6:00pm. Joining me at the signing will be Stan’s longtime colleagues, DENNIS O’NEIL (legendary writer and editor of Batman, Green Lantern/Green Arrow, Iron Man, and many more), an important contributor to THE STAN LEE UNIVERSE, in which he recounts the amazing experience of watching Stan at work in the 1960s.|
